30 Things Only Drivers In Los Angeles Will Understand ›
KPCC or KCRW?!
#5 is always such a joy. And I love driving around at dawn, aka the equivalent of #30.

I forgot today was the LA marathon. The helicopters proved to be a good reminder.
About two years ago I got involved in an altercation with a motorcycle that involved being followed for 8 miles and having to replace my side-view mirror. This morning I almost had a repeat with a ‘96 Civic. Except instead of taking my exit, she proceeded on the freeway. I forgot I’m not supposed to pass people I honk at.
I stupidly decided to play tennis on a record cold LA day. And to make matters even worse, I only packed knee-length pants. We didn’t even make it to a full hour on the court.
For whatever reason, a ton of Asian restaurants advertise during Monday Night Football. It took me a while to figure out football was the reason why I knew what Chosun Galbee was.
Twelve days, nine flights, six airlines later and I’m finally home in the comfort of my own couch.
My coworker sent this to me. This little child is so charming. Who knew children could truly enjoy and appreciate expensive cuisine?
At least it’s better than yesterday’s 63. I think it’s finally time to suck it up and turn the heat on.
For a 10 am movie, I can get to the theater in 15 minutes, swiftly swerving in and out of the light morning traffic in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Once I arrive at the mall, I can easily find parking right next to the escalator, and after parking, I can quickly walk around and enjoy the emptiness.
For an 11 am movie, all hell has broken loose. It takes roughly 25 minutes to get to the mall, driving behind the tourists who have finally ventured out onto the streets and having to brake for the pedestrians walking through every…single…crosswalk. In the parking garage, I have to go around in circles before finally finding a spot half a mile away from the escalator. By the end of all of this, it’s already 11 and I’ve missed the first preview, and there’s still the crowds in the actual mall left to fight.
The lesson I learned this morning: always opt for the 10 am listing.
