For a 92 minute movie, this is a surprisingly slow one. The sound levels are also consistently off: sometimes Gina Carano is whispering, other times it seems like she’s shouting.
All these complaints after only 30 minutes in.
Given that the promo season is well underway, and at this point it feels like we’ve seen something from basically every summer movie landing in the next three or four months, so it’s easy to forget that there are still a couple of intriguing projects yet to reveal themselves. Though the first book is actually pretty entertaining and successful at painting a different dystopian society, the latter two books of the trilogy are quite repetitive. I read the last book a couple of months ago and was greatly disappointed—there was no attachment to any character. It’d be quite interesting if this actually does do better than Beautiful Creatures.
This headline caught my attention. Who knew these three guys could be up for the same part? Too much drama, it seems, associated with this movie already.
